Biography

Paul Vario is an Italian American actor. He was born June 4,1962 in East New York, Brooklyn, and grew up in the Canarsie section of Brooklyn. Paul was discovered later in life when a casting agent asked Paul to give an audition for an independent film called “This Thing of Ours”, directed by Danny Provenzano. Paul nailed the audition and was given his first principle role, playing “Big Paulie”, a mob bodyguard. After that Paul decided to pursue his acting career full time. He started taking acting lessons with Tom G. Waites (a 20+ year member of the actors studio), took on two more movie projects that included, "Marie", where he plays a pizza man and then "The Blue Lizard" in which he played “Tony”, a tough guy and jealous boyfriend. In 2006 Paul landed a supporting role in the film "Eddie Monroe" playing "Uncle Benny", the street wise uncle of a Long Island teenager who’s father was killed after an armored car heist, he also narrated the film . Immediately after rave reviews as Uncle Benny, Joan Porter-Hollander, another Actors Studio alumni (with 30+ years in residence) took Paul under her wing in a one-on-one coaching format which took Paul to another level of acting. Shortly thereafter, Paul landed the leading role in the film Just Like Joe in which he plays a blind World War II veteran and for which he received another round of rave reviews.He later got the co-star role as Detective Joe in the film "Jesse" in which he acted along side of Armande Assante, Eric Roberts and William Forsythe. Paul has also done a few commercials and music video’s, including one featured on the DVD of This Thing of Ours, with the band, The Porch Ghouls in which Steve Tyler and Joe Perry from Aerosmith and Frank Vincent also star.
